Ventura County Interfaith Community – Core Committee Minutes

March 10, 2005

Hi all.  Here’s what I think we said last night – please correct me if I am wrong:

·         April 10th - We will meet at the Oxnard Buddhist Temple for Sakyamuni Buddha’s birthday.  Breakfast is at 8:00 and the service is at 10:00.  Following the service, Rev. Ueda will host a discussion of the service.

·         May 13th – We will meet at Temple Ner Ami at 6:30 for a quick introduction to the service, followed by the service at 7:30 and a discussion afterwards

·         June 5th – We will observe the St Columba’s service.

·         Communities to reach out to:

o        Tim will reach out to the Conejo Valley Islamic Center and the Unitarians

o        Susan will reach out to the Bahais.

o        Susan:  I will get the contact information for you from Rabbi Lotker

Towards the end we discussed inviting the communities that we are still reaching out to, to join us for a meal before attending the various services.  I’m wondering if we want to do something the Friday before April 10th if we receive a positive response from the Muslims, Unitarians, or Bahais?  What do you think?

We also did not talk about a discussion prior to the June 5th service at St Columba’s.  Do we want to do that between the 8:00 and 10:00 services?
