Discussion
Tim opened idea of need for a co-chairman related to the amount of work VCIC is involving. Discussion followed on the need to formally organize with officers, not only to meet the continuing needs of the group and plan for the future, but also to apply for nonprofit status. Debbie suggested that we need a general meeting in order to have new core group members. The general group meetings could meet in conjunction with the visiting service meetings or after shorter core group meetings. The group consensus was that we could decide on how to incorporate a general group meeting at a future meeting. The following was agreed upon:
· We will organize
· Leadership positions will be on a volunteer basis
· Tim will put an email out to let all those interested know
· Renée will bring bylaws and covenant of nonproselytizing to next meeting from Campus Interfaith as reference for VCIC
Tim reported on his joining the CSUCI Campus Interfaith board. This will be a good opportunity to connect the community interfaith with campus interfaith.
Forum
It was agreed that the next forum will be in September or October of 2006. This will give time for collaboration with Campus Interfaith.
· Frieda will contact the Camarillo Library to see when the new building will be completed for possible use of a room.
· Renée will check SJRMC for availability of the conference center (rooms 1-4)
The following topics were agreed upon for the forum and will be presented to Campus Interfaith for their preference.
VCIC’s first choices were “Maintaining hope in times of crisis”
“Power of prayer and meditation”
VCIC’s second choices were “Nature of evil” and “Why have interfaith dialogue?”
