Ventura County Interfaith Community Meeting Notes

July 26th, 2007

Attendees:

Kellen – Unitarian Universalist

Renee – Bahai

Roz – SGI Nichiren

Frieda – Jewish

Debbie – Buddhist

Linda – Catholic

Lowell – LDS Mormon

Service Project Idea = Quilting

(A time and place to talk as we work together on the project)

Service Project Idea = CYA (County Youth Association) State Prison for Girls

(Ideas:  clothing drive, collections for the girls, etc)

We need to find a space for:

  • Forums
  • Monthly meetings

For our group’s continued growth an idea was brought up to recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles for money to keep us afloat.

We could also coordinate bake sales or garage sales to collect money for our causes.

We need to build trust with our local groups and our contacts.

We need not to be doing the project, but more involved in organizing the project and bringing in the public.

One goal brought up for our next meeting is to hopefully find a space for our meetings, our forums, etc.

If we cannot at least find a space for our forum by the first week of November, we will have to hold off until next year.
