Minutes of Last Meeting

The group reviewed the minutes, a minor change was made and the group, as read, approved them.

 

Review of Finances

The treasurer reported that we currently have $464.

Once she adds her recycling money ($4) to the account our balance will be $468.

Date – 10/14/08

Location – Tim and Teri Helton’s home

Time – 7:00pm

Devotional – Bob will bring

 

Upcoming Events:

1.       Alternatives to Violence and Victory Over Violence Event – 10/22/08 at 7pm at United Methodist Church in Westlake Village

·         Ros went to location and reported on setup/size of room

·         Room will hold about 70 people

·         Ros suggests we set up the room vertically for the Victory Over Violence panels to be displayed on either side of the chairs in the center.

·         Parking lot has approximately 90 parking spaces

·         The church does have other events going on that night

·         There is also parking at a business center nearby for additional parking, as needed

·         Can access the room after 1:30pm on day of event

·         Ros will ask about signage at the event and may also have spotters

·         Percy will try to get interview with KCLU prior to event

Speakers – Two speakers from Ventura Country Police Department

Program – Linda will put together a program with information on the Alternatives to Violence Program and a little bit about it, as well as Victory Over Violence and information on it too.

Publicity – Lisa will put event info in the Acorn and the Ventura County Star, as well as try for the Thousand Oaks Star. Percy will take care of the radio publicity. Kellen will put up event flyer on the community board at CSUCI.

Refreshments – Everyone bring a snack food or finger food. Linda will bring water.

2.       Yahya will be trying to put together a presentation of Encounter Point on 10/23/08 at a Catholic Church in Agoura Hills. Global Exchange is also involved.

3.       Teri would also like us to try and get involved in the Crop Walk (help for the local Food Banks) in March of next year.

Tim will send an e-mail to each member and get more information about each others’ worship services, etc.
