This will be 30 minute business meeting. Please review the information regarding the Feast of Faiths and T-shirt logo so that we can move through the business effectively, allowing Dara plenty of time to share.

Introductions:

Review of minutes: Please review the minutes prior to coming. They can be found at WWW.timhelton.com under visit Ventura County Interfaith Community website. I saw the correction regarding the color of the T-shirt. Thank you Ros.

Business:

1)         The Feast of Faiths  

a. Sunday, October 17 from 4 to 6.

b. Conclusions of discussion with Imam Patel, Yahya, and Tim:

·  The Islamic Center would like to host the event. In our advertising, we will probably say something like, "VCIC (http://www.timhelton.com/VCIC/) and Campus Interfaith (http://www.campusinterfaith.org/) invites you to its annual feast of faiths, to be hosted by the Islamic Center of Conejo Valley at ... address"

·  You have 14 round tables that seat 10 people each which we may use for the dinner

·  You have a PowerPoint setup available for us to use should we wish to play an introductory video as people gather

·  I will explain to VCIC that a Taiko drum performance would pose a problem for your congregation. This raises an important question that I forgot to ask: In the past we've also had a musician play background music for dinner. Will this also pose a problem for you?

·  Feast of Faith participants will be able to hear the call to prayer and will have the option of observing the prayer if they choose

·  You would like to reserve 30 tickets for folk from the Islamic center

·  You will arrange for the catering, and we will pay approximately $10 per head for a meal. A vegetarian option will be available.

·  We will sell no more than 140 tickets for around $20 per head.

·  We can bring our own place settings and table decorations or use your table cloths if we choose - we would expect to launder them before returning them  if we use yours

·  You have two refrigerators and ovens

·  We may invite the Abundant Table (http://jointhefarm.com/ourStory.html) to provide a salad and to plug their operation but we understand that all meat will come from your caterer

·  We will ask you to make a short (2-3 minutes) speech welcoming us to the Islamic Center - Other clergy members may make short speeches or offer prayers appropriate to interfaith gatherings as well

2) Service Project for Botanical Gardens to be in August.7 at 9 am

              Gardens are on Gainsborough off Lynn Road in Thousand Oaks

              Bring gloves and picnic lunch

              Enjoy tour of garden

4) Forum Title: "Science and Religion: Conflict or Co-existence

·  This needs updating since last VCIC meeting and discussion about changes. Awaiting report back form Campus Interfaith
