Attending:

 

Yahya shared that his son is now well and truly married!

 

Ros reported that a Muslim young man received high honors from SGI on graduation

 

Report of Treasurer: No change since last month

 

Business:

1)         The Feast of Faiths

·         Ros reminded Teri that she is to investigate the hall that we used for the first Feast of Faiths.

·         Yahya will ask if the Newbury Park mosque could host the Feast of Faiths

·          Save the date flyer completed and sent to Tim who forwarded it to the larger email list.

·         Tim and Kellen will ask Campus Interfaith to allow the use of their insurance

 

2)                     Service Project for Botanical Gardens to be in August.

a.       August 7th is a possible date.

b.      We should start early – around 9:00.

c.       We will work for about four hours and eat a picnic lunch together afterwards

d.      Also, the caretaker will give us a tour afterwards.

e.       We should bring our gloves

f.       Tim will send address and directions

 

3)                      T-shirts:  Bob Skelton has researched information on costs

a.       Ros says we can include the SGI logo on our T Shirt

b.      Questions arose:

                                                  i.      Will it cost to print front and back

                                                ii.      Does it cost more for additional colors

                                              iii.      Do colored T Shirts cost more than black or white

                                              iv.      What is the additional cost for printing

 

4)                      Forum on science and religion –  We chose Science and Religion: Conflict or Coexistence as title

a.       Tim reported that Rabbi Lotker volunteered to lay out the terrain for the topic and suggested that we enlist representatives from various congregations to locate their traditions within the terrain and explain. VCIC thought this would be a good idea

b.      Tim and Kellen will raise the following issues at tomorrow’s Campus Interfaith meeting:

                                                  i.      We suggest the evening of 2/6/11 at 4:30 on campus

                                                ii.      The group asked me to ask Campus Interfaith to nail down a location.  Next meeting is tomorrow June 23

5)                     Kellen  reported

a.       She created the Yahoo group, and invited four people

b.      She will add the remainder of the VCIC core committee to the group
