Minutes:

· Correction to minutes – possible colors for T shirts: light blue and burgundy

Report of Treasurer:

· We have $486 in the checking account, with bottles to be turned in.

· We can sell Valley Artist tickets and earn $5.00 for each ticket, buying them at 15 and selling them for 20

Business:

1) The Feast of Faiths:

a. Sunday, October 17 from 4 to 6pm

b. Conclusions of discussion with Imam Patel, Yahya, and Tim:

· The Islamic Center would like to host the event. In our advertising, we will probably say something like, "VCIC (http://www.timhelton.com/VCIC/) and Campus Interfaith (http://www.campusinterfaith.org/) invites you to its annual feast of faiths, to be hosted by the Islamic Center of Conejo Valley at 2700 Borchard Road "

· They have 14 round tables that seat 10 people each which we may use for the dinner

· You have a PowerPoint setup available for us to use should we wish to play an introductory video as people gather

· A Taiko drum performance would pose a problem for the Muslim congregation.

· Feast of Faith participants will be able to hear the call to prayer and will have the option of observing the prayer if they choose

· The Islamic Center would like to reserve 30 tickets for folk from the Islamic center

· They will arrange for the catering, and we will pay approximately $10 per head for a meal. A vegetarian option will be available.

· We will sell no more than 140 tickets for around $20 per head.

· We can bring our own place settings and table decorations or use their table cloths if we choose - we would expect to launder them before returning them  if we use theirs

· They have two refrigerators and ovens

· We may invite the Abundant Table (http://jointhefarm.com/ourStory.html) to provide a salad and to plug their operation but we understand that all meat will come from the caterer

· We will ask Imam Patel to make a short (2-3 minutes) speech welcoming us to the Islamic Center - Representatives from other faith communities may make short speeches or offer prayers appropriate to interfaith gatherings as well

c. New concerns

· Yahya will check to see if we can have a core team meeting at the Islamic center

· He will also check on parking

· Deadline for ticket reservations will be 10/10

· Teri will complete the flyer and Ros will ask Lisa to make contacts regarding advertising

2) Service Project for Botanical Gardens to be in August.7 at 9:30 am

1. Gardens are on Gainsborough off Lynn Road in Thousand Oaks

2. Bring gloves, comfortable shoes, water, hat, and picnic lunch

3. Enjoy tour of garden

3) T-shirts: David is still working on the icon for the T Shirts

4) Forum Title: "Science and Religion: Conflict or Co-existence

· This needs updating since last VCIC meeting and discussion about changes. Awaiting report back form Campus Interfaith – see previous minutes
